Digipak Draft 3 - Inside

Original background photo
Small layered images
Because some of our feedback suggested that we needed more composition in our digipak and that we should include the romantic theme to link it to the video, we created an image using multiple layering and candles.
We only had one candle between the 3 of us as we had a limited budget and time scale, and so we took 3 separate photos of each member holding a lit candle against a white background. We then edited these images on Photoshop, creating PNG files with transparent backgrounds. We put all 3 images into one Photoshop file to create one flowing image.

Once we had done this, we took an image of the group together and cut out each individual and once again made these 3 separate images into PNG files. We then layered these images onto the candles in the first image, and reduced the opacity to try make these figures 'blend in' more with the candle. Initially, we made the layers small to fit on the candle, however we didn't like the effect this gave and so made the images larger to cover the candle and the bodies of the group on the background image.

Enlarged layers
We showed these two images to our primary audience and none of the feedback we received was positive. They all said that the layers looked silly and out of place and that they could understand what we were trying to achieve but the outcome was not working. There was nothing else that we could have tried to improve these images and because the feedback was not constructive, we decided that it would be best to not use these images in our final digipak. We are aiming for a professional and realistic looking digipak and including one of these images would make it look amateur and would not give the impression that we hope for.
